Mesolite Spheres with Calcite Inside Geode Natural Mineral Specimen # B 4698

  • $ 700.00

The minerals of India's Deccan Trap are, for the most part, the best crystallised specimens of their individual species ever discovered. This piece is a superb example of this material, with a fantastic radial "spray" of thin, colourless prismatic Mesolite crystals resting nicely inside a Quartz crystal lined basalt vug. It's more of a geode than a vug, but it's been opened and exposed on both sides to show the crystalline jewels within. A few tiny rhombic white/colorless Calcite crystals for accenting are a nice touch. It's very hard to identify whether these crystals are Mesolite by sight, because they come from a variety of locations throughout Maharashtra.
